How does a cell make more cells?
The cell creates new cells by a process called cell division/mitosis. One important fact about this process is that before dividing itself, the cell must grow and copy its chromosomes. Another important fact is that after cell division/mitosis, the 2 daughter cells are identical to the original parent cell. The daughter cells created are similar from the parent cells because the parent cell duplicates its chromosomes before dividing into 2 identical daughter cells. During the process errors are avoided by 3 checkpoints in the process that can stop the process if needed. Finally, it takes about 24 hours for the process to be complete.
The effects of city growth
As for cities, it is a different story. Cities laws are different in all cities. One interesting fact in support of this is that the article “States with more gun laws have less gun violence” states “Specifically, Fleeger pointed to states with many gun laws like Massachusetts, which had 3.4 gun-related deaths per 100,000 people, and New Jersey, which had 4.9 gun-deaths per 100,000 people. Conversely, he focused on states with less laws like Louisiana, which had 18 deaths per 100,000 individuals and Alaska, which had 17.5 deaths per 100,000 individuals.” This means that all the different cities in the states have different laws about guns and that is affecting the way things happen in the city like crimes that happen with the use of guns. Another interesting fact about cities is that they don’t all grow at the same rate. For example, the article “Google expansion brings mixed feelings” states “The impacts of Google's growth have become obvious, he said: Shoreline Boulevard is more gridlocked than ever, there's been an unprecedented spike in rents and restaurants are struggling as a bigger percentage of workers eat free gourmet lunches on campus. Home owners, however, (including every City Council member) "are getting wealthier on paper" as their property values rise.” This means that the city of Mountain View is growing, but not all of its effects are positive. Finally, not all cities have the right amount of laws because sometimes, not enough laws is a problem, but too many can be a problem too. For instance, when there are too many laws, a lot of people break them and then a lot of people end up in jail and there isn’t enough space in the jails.
Is the city or the cell better at growing and creating more of itself?
It is clear that the cell is much better at growing and creating more of itself because unlike the city, it divides into different cities instead of creating bigger cities that cause problems like higher rental price. To build on this idea, the cell can duplicate itself much faster than the city and if there are problems, it can stop the process. Another fact in support of this is that when the cell grows, it doesn’t cause problems whereas when a city grows or adds more laws, it causes problems like too many prisoners, traffic jams and more. In addition, the cell has 3 checkpoints to stop the process in case of problems unlike the city where if you’re in the middle of construction, you can’t stop.
